New Podcast: VO Breakfast Show

I’ve come across a new VO Podcast, the VO Breakfast Show. While my main VO Podcast continues to be Marc Scott’s Everyday VOpreneur, the Breakfast Show is a welcome addition to my listening stable and I’ve been running through the episodes like nobody’s business. Its hosts are veterans Carin Gilfry and Jamie Muffett.

Whether I take to any podcast depends on two main factors being that its substance has to speak to me, and the hosts’ banter and chemistry should strike a genial chord with me, both admittedly deeply subjective calls. On both counts, the podcast delivers. There’s an easy dynamic between the two hosts, a sense that you’re a silent party to a casual yet meaningful chat and not a viewer to an audio ‘show’ that’s being staged for your benefit. The fact that that Karyn is co-founder of the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) and that they both are, as at the time of writing, co-hosts of the Vocation and eVocations series of conferences adds extra heft to their perspective.

Of particular note is the episode “Fiverr” that by their own account, was “a little different from the one we planned” and which provides immediate exposure to one of the hot-button issues (and prominent personalities) at play on the broader voiceover stage. Yes, it’s the equivalent of drama in the VO world, now go take a listen.
